The timeline of Korea Ratings serves as a landmark in the history of Korean credit rating.
On the back of strong market trust,

1980

  • 1983 DEC.

    Established Korea Management Consulting Corporation

  • 1984
    • JAN.

      Began project feasibility study and corporate management analysis services

    • APR.

      Japan's NRI became the shareholder of Korea Management Consulting Corp.

  • 1985
    • JUL.

      Designated as an official institution for preliminary feasibility study on government investment projects (by the Economic Planning Board)

    • JUL.

      Designated as an official institution for CGS assessment on public and government purchase
      (by the Ministry of Finance)

  • 1986 MAR.

    Designated as an official institution for the assessment of stocks and shareholdings of foreigner-invested
    corporations(by the Ministry of Finance)

  • 1987 NOV.

    Changed its name to Korea Management Consulting Credit Rating Corporation Started credit rating services

  • 1988 DEC.

    Began CP rating services

1990

  • 1991 NOV.

    Designated as an official institution for the assessment of price-earnings ratio of corporations' initial public offering (by Stock Exchange Committee)

  • 1992
    • MAR.

      Designated as an official credit rating agency for promissory note guarantor (by Stock Exchange Committee)

    • MAY.

      Designated as an official research institution for merger ratio assessment between listed and unlisted corporations (by Stock Exchange Committee)

    • JUL.

      Registered as a value-added network (VAN) operator to the Ministry of Communication

  • 1994
    • FEB.

      Designated as an official institution for stock valuation of unlisted corporations in accordance with inheritance law (by the Ministry of Finance)

    • JUL.

      Attained business license for credit rating services (by the Securities Exchange Committee)

    • JUL.

      Signed an agreement with Japan's Mitsubishi Research Institute (MRI) for business cooperation in the consulting sector

  • 1995 SEP.

    Acquired a credit information business license (from the Ministry of Finance and Economy)

  • 1996 AUG.

    Designated as an official investigator of corporations ' liquidation (by the Supreme Court)

  • 1998
    • DEC.

      Signed an agreement with Monitor Company for business cooperation in the consulting sector

    • DEC.

      Signed an agreement with KPMG-Peat Marwick for business cooperation in the consulting sector

  • 1999
    • JAN.

      Signed an agreement with Fitch Ratings for business cooperation in the credit rating sector

    • JAN.

      Privatized through KDB's equity disposal

2000

      Signed an agreement with TUV for business cooperation in the consulting sector

    • MAY.

      Invested in eValue Co., Ltd. and Korea Bond Pricing Co., Ltd.

    • AUG.

      Signed an agreement with RMG for business cooperation in the risk management solution sector

      Launched online information services

  • 2001 JAN.

    Received equity investment from Fitch Ratings

      Appointed Young-Jin Lee as new president and CEO

      Hanil Cement became the largest shareholder of Korea Management Consulting Credit Rating Corp.

      Established strategic alliances with LEXKEN and KMT Consulting for CPM consulting services

      Signed an agreement with Fitch Ratings for business cooperation in operation risk management sector

  • 2004 JAN.

    Company's data-base was selected as an excellent data-base system by KR-FIND Korea Data-Base Promotion Center

  • 2005

      Invested in Korea Credit Bureau(KCB)

    • MAR.

      Acquired e-Credible Co., Ltd.

    • JUN.

      Selected as an excellent company for corporate governance for two consecutive years (2004 and 2005) by Korea Corporate Governance Service and KOSDAQ

      Opened e-Rating Center and started e-Rating services

      Acquired FICO Korea Co., Ltd.

      Fitch Ratings Ltd became the largest shareholder of Korea Ratings Corp.

      Designated as an External Credit Assessment Institution(ECAI) by Financial Supervisory Service

  • 2008 OCT.

    Affiliate e-Credible Listed on KOSDAQ

2010

  • 2010 DEC.

    Appointed Insub Yoon as new president and CEO

  • 2012 JUN.

    2012 JUN. Established eCredible Networks, a subsidiary of eCredible, through the spinoff of the B2B business

  • 2013 JAN.

    Establishment of KR PLUS through spin off

  • 2015

      2015 APR. Won the first place for 15 straight years in the Survey of Rating Agencies by e-daily (SRE) for reliable credit ratings
